A Story of Success with Myofascial Release Therapy by Lee Conner (Lee is the one on the table enjoying receiving the work)
Hello Everyone,
Beth asked if I would write about some of my experience with myofascial release therapy. I am happy to have the chance to share, because I have had some amazing results both with clients and for myself.
I trained in massage therapy and kinesiology in 1988 and have further trained in many different modalities over the years including reflexology, shiatsu, beauty therapy, Bowen and EFT. I traveled to the US and studied deep tissue & sports massage; and to Australia where I studied Cellectrology and Touch for Health and was also an Instructor/
Practitioner/Trainer.
In my clinic now I am mostly doing myofascial release and acupressure points because I find it the most effective way to change the holding patterns in the soft tissue to realign and balance the body.
I took Beth’s Fundamentals course in February 2013 and immediately incorporated it into my work. I found client’s love it and can really feel the difference it is making in their bodies. I have had success in treating
back pain, sciatica, neck and shoulder tension, rotator cuff issues, achilles tendon problems and much more.
Beth came to New Plymouth to teach the Fundamentals course again in May 2013 and was offering a day of sessions. I jumped at the chance as I was having a lot of pain in my body and feeling completely overwhelmed. Life had gotten really busy and felt like it was on top of me. With just the one session I was able to let go of a lot of stress and my body felt more at ease and less painful. It was a turning point of getting me back on track again.
In October 2014 I took the Set 3: Advanced Lower Body course. I had spoken to Beth beforehand wondering if it was a good idea, as I had an operation the end of June and wasn’t feeling very good. I had a hysterectomy and fibroids removed and since the surgery had lacked energy, had bladder issues, pain in my hip and felt emotionally flat.
I can remember Beth saying “maybe taking the course is exactly what you need to get some great work done on yourself.” Well she was right and thank goodness I came!
After the weekend of work I was invigorated! I felt like myself again. My energy levels returned, my hip pain lessened significantly, my legs felt connected to my body again and my bladder released back into position and my bladder function returned to normal. I also had a lingering bruise on my hip for months that immediately began to fade. My whole body lengthened out and I let go of a lot of the emotional tension I was carrying.
After the course I could get back to work again doing what I love – helping others feel better. Thank you, Beth!!
Beth is passionate about fascia and its vital role in the body and has designed effective courses where anyone can learn techniques that can be easily and effectively incorporated into their practice. There is a good balance of theory and hands on work and you leave feeling very inspired.
Kind Regards,
Lee Conner
